I’ve received a lot of emails and comments asking me to specify the different food plans I’ve discussed in this blog. In addition I thought I would list and categorize other related programs and books on the subjects of diet, recovery and French chic. This page contains links to several different “recovery” programs for people with eating disorders and also my favorite experts on the French Diet and the Italian / Mediterranean diet and lifestyle. I had a somewhat cultish popular blog on style, diet and fashion a few years ago and I am working on a new style blog coming soon.
DIETS: THAT FRENCH JE NE SAIS QUOI
WHY the French Diet Works or “Why French Women Don’t Get Fat”. The Michel Montignac Method (he is a genius! His theories on the glycemic index and the American and French paradox are fascinating!
I also find inspiration from one of my favorite French lifestyle and diet writers, American Anne Barone. Her Chic and Slim series have been some of my favorite reads over the last several years.
Another French diet author, Mireille Guililiano, author of French Women Don’t Get Fat and A Woman For All Seasons.
The British television and book series, “You Are What You Eat” on BBC America in the US and on Channel 4 in the UK. “Holistic nutritionist Gillian McKeith works with unhealthy eaters to break a lifetime of bad habits.” Her books are You Are What You Eat: The Plan That Will Change Your Life and Slim For Life.
E.D. Resources:
GREY SHEET: Are you looking for the GREY SHEET food plan? Go here: “grey sheet food plan“. The site has an indepth description of what the greysheeters anonymous is all about. Go to greysheet.org for the official greysheeters website. Visit greysheetrecipes.org for the grey sheeters cookbook. I used to do this when I weighed 105 pounds but I personally need to eat some whole grains.
NOTE: I think it may have given me anemia! I recommend it only for initial weight loss… not for maintenance!
FOOD ADDICTS ANON: For official information on FAA visit foodaddictsanonymous.org. For their Food Addicts Anonymous plan go here: “FAA food plan“. Another food addiction site is foodaddicts.org (Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous).
NOTE: I have not utilized this program but have friends who have and are successful in it.
H.O.W.: Compulsive Eaters Anonymous-HOW main page is here: ceahow.org. View a copy of the H.O.W. food plan.
NOTE: There are no meetings in my state but I am trying to mold my “food plan” closely to this one as it appears most healthy and well balanced and likely for me to stay committed to it. It has whole grains and beans, etc… in maintenance!
OVEREATERS ANONYMOUS: Are You a Compulsive Overeater? The official oa.org website.
12 STEPS: My meeting and 12 step program resources: The Big Book Step Study and the Cambridge Alanon BBSS. The Big Book Step Study Hyannis Format and online audio files speakers. Confused about what the big book step study is compared to other 12 step programs? It is VERY different. Learn in detail about it here: RG’s Recovery Home Page. (“Other disorders and addictions have adapted the AA 12 Step process to cure or reduce their causes.”) HIGHLY Recommended! Also adultchildren.org and codependents.org.
Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 Step 6 Step 7 Step 8 Step 9 Step 10 Step 11 Step 12
Step 4 examples: (1) Names (2) Resentments (3) Fears (4) Sex AKA Relationships – followed by (5) Turnarounds (scroll down the page to the section marked “Turnarounds:” Selfish, Dishonest, Self Seeking, Fear).

Thanks! And you’re welcome. Finally decided to put it on one page. It took me forever to compile it and link it! It’s been awfully cold here with a few weird warmish days followed by bitter cold and break neck 30 below winds! Hope you keep warm too!

Thhanks for dropping by and leaving the note about Ivan and Vera. I’ll pass it along to Ian, their son. I’m sure he will appreciate it, too.
I miss the Boston and Cambridge meetings. Meetings here in northern NM are rustic and small. They still serve their purpose but I do miss the other, the life and vitality, the unpredictable edges.
I’ll be back to visit again when I have more time. Best wishes for the holidays and the new year.
